About Catskill Animal Sanctuary
Located 90 miles north of Manhattan, Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a 100-acre
haven for abused and abandoned farm animals-animals who have never known
warm shelter and bedding, spacious pastures, or the touch of a kind hand.
Since 2001, CAS has provided refuge for over 1,100 needy animals. Among our
residents are Dino, a 40-year-old pony who was the sole survivor of an arson
that killed 23 horses; Blake the one-legged duck, and Policeman, the
1,000-pound pig found in a Bronx apartment during a drug raid.
In addition to rescue, CAS raises awareness of factory farming and its
impact on animals, humans, and the planet we all share. We host visitors
every weekend between April and October; speak at schools and community
organizations around the region, and hold several annual events. Such
experiences help our guests see that farm animals, given a safe and
nurturing environment, are complex, intelligent, emotional beings, and as
such, are entitled to happiness and quality of life.
Catskill Animal Sanctuary invites animal lovers everywhere to become a part
